Biehler Pro Cycling is all set for the 2019 Vuelta a Burgos. The Spanish stage race, a new addition to the UCI calendar, will be an interesting opportunity for the Dutch UCI team.
One who will witness the action from the team car is Stefan van Klink, the team’s DS during the Vuelta a Burgos. “It will be very interesting to see how we perform in a race like this”, he previews the four-day stage race.
“For a few it will be the first time they experience a proper uphill finish, so I am excited to see how they will do.”
Van Klink expects four hard days of racing. “GC-wise, I think the most important stage will be the second and the third one, although we should also not underestimate the other stages. Still, I think it will be two reduced bunch sprints on day one and four, and two days to go all in on some stinging climbs. I think our performance in the Skandis GP shows that we have some firepower when the road rises, and of course, we hope to repeat that in Burgos.”
Van Klink names Teuntje Beekhuis as some of the riders to watch with great interest. “Teuntje has had quite a lot of bad luck this season, but I believe she can do well on the uphill finishes. In tests, she has shown she is very strong uphill and I really hope luck will be on her side this week.”
Biehler Pro Cycling also is pleased to welcome back Henrietta Colborne. Her last race, the Brabantse Pijl, did not end the way it should have. Instead of being in the mix for glory, she was transferred to the hospital after a nasty crash.
“A month after her crash, she is eager to race again. Under normal circumstances, this race would have been something for her, but now she is focused on helping her teammates, which is awesome. Just as Roos Hoogeboom, Henrietta already has experience in these races, so that will come in handy for sure.”
“The Vuelta a Burgos will be all about exploring our potential and taking opportunities when they arise. Of course, I hope that we can come home with some nice results as well, but most of all I hope we can all learn something from this race.”
Sadly, the Vuelta a Burgos won’t be televised, but we will do our utmost to keep you updated. Make sure you follow Biehler Pro Cycling on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram to keep up to date with the team.
