Preview: Tour of Uppsala 2019 | Biehler Pro Cycling

The batteries have been recharged after the spring classics season. The first race in a busy month of racing for Biehler Pro Cycling will be the 2019 Tour of Uppsala. The Dutch UCI team aims to do well in this three-day Swedish stage race.

Marissa Baks

Marissa Baks is one of the five Biehler Pro Cycling riders who will line up in the only stage race in Sweden. It will be the second time she rides race. Her first participation did not prove to be a great success: “I don’t have great memories of this race, because in last year’s final stage I broke my jaw”, Baks recalls. “I have some unfinished business with this race.”

After a late start to her first season at Biehler Pro Cycling, the 20-year old Baks now hopes to do well in this 2.2 race. “Due to vitamin D deficiency, I was only able to start racing in April. Therefore I am still looking to build form. I did three races so far this season, but I feel I am getting stronger with each race. The Tour of Uppsala should suit me better than the previous races since I prefer races with more elevation gain. I also think we can do great as a team in this race, so that motivates me to put my best foot forward even more.”

“With three stage races scheduled for me this month, May will be a very tough month, there is no doubt about that. But I hope to use the races to build towards my best form. I especially look forward to Emakumeen Bira, my first Women’s WorldTour race. That will be a very exciting race where I can learn a lot.”

More information on the Tour of Uppsala can be found on the race’s website of the Facebook page. We, of course, will keep you posted about our results on social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and our website.
