Race report: Henrietta Colborne 17th in Gent-Wevelgem

A massive result in Gent-Wevelgem for Biehler Pro Cycling. After a hard race Henrietta Colborne came home in 17th place, her first-ever top 20 in a Women’s WorldTour race.

Henrietta was over the moon with her result: “I’m absolutely thrilled with this result in such a world-class field in a high-profile race like this. I feel as a team we have made another step up. Of course, there’s always room to improve but I feel like this is a big step in the right direction all around.”

“The whole race was full gas for me with each of the girls playing a critical part in the teams performance, picking us up from the middle of the bunch and delivering us at the front of the bunch, making our life a thousand times easier”, Colborne values the team effort.

“After a fast start the Baneberg, Kemmelberg and the Monteberg proved to be the most challenging”, Henrietta recaps. “The group split multiple times but thankfully it all came back together. Natalie did a strong ride as well, always ensuring she was in or near the front group.”

“Unfortunately, Teuntje suffered a puncture when the race was going full gas which was unfortunate, otherwise we would have been there with three in the final.”

“Towards the final, all the groups came back together and in the final five km Natalie and myself joined forces to find a way to the front of the group where the sprint was contested. I’m really happy to find myself up there, scoring the first WorldTour points in my career.”

Naturally, DS Hans Blom was a happy man after the race. “I think this race shows our progression as a team. I think all girls did really well today and I am very proud of them.”

“I’m absolutely thrilled to see Henrietta getting a result like this. She’s put in so much hard work, showing real determination, and she’s an absolute gem of a person. It’s just wonderful to see that rewarded. At the same time, we got to keep in mind, we’ve not started our team to be 17th in a one-day WorldTour race once. While we are happy with today’s race, we’d like to build on this and I know we can do that. The best is yet to come!”

This Wednesday Biehler Pro Cycling will try to go for another result at the 1.1 race Dwars door Vlaanderen.
